“Out of nowhere the light will appear. It is all happening on Earth, follow the natural law. Where there is darkness, there is only the sun to shine through. What we go through is only for our own good. If to admit this, is as easy to stay with every battle fought and won, the stronger that we fight anew. Dark then light, dark then light.”

You lightly tread over the threshold, passed under the archway (it was really pretty) and plunged directly into the darkness (Yikes).

It is Water season. The spotlight is on fear and the acts of fearing. Security, survival and willing your life forward, these traits make up the bones of Winter. The primal fear is that you won’t make it through alive. It is  a mini -confrontation with death. Will I survive? If I do, does it even matter?  What is my life worth?

Maybe you, personally, haven’t gone deep down inside and felt these fatalistic thoughts with your body, but everyone has to contend with death at some point. Most of us confront death hundreds of times before we die. Every Winter, we see the foliage go through a termination of sorts, a cycle of dormancy and restoration. In the Spring, we will witness a rebirth.

As a person, we go through multiple mini-deaths in a life span. The death of loved ones, the death of dreams, the death of parts of our identities, the death of our beliefs, it all cycles through into a period of regeneration.

Hold up, first we have to feel the pain and sorrow of these petite deaths, we can not skip this step. The feelings hit us hard in the Winter because there is a stillness, a space to send us back inside the self… to incubate. Let us not forget our side-kick, fear. We have time to ruminate, what is this all about? Why is life worth living? What is the fucking point of it all?

In the last two years our fear centers have been flooded to the max. We have been manipulated, abused, in order, to establish control over us. We are all exhausted and have ourselves all twisted up.

The greatest need at this time is for us to pause, breath, regroup and invite transcendence.

Take stock in your life and find the middle ground, within your roots, your self, your body is a resting spot.

Identify the center and pull yourself away from the extremes, do not believe your own fearful mind. It is possible to move past the obvious, and find the zero point, neither positive or negative.

When you can find this “Shangri-La” within, hold on for dear life, everything around you will try and shake you,  threaten you and run you off. Stand in the ground, my sisters and brothers, stay true, cling to yourself.

In a time and space sheltered from fear, ask yourself, what do I want to do with my life?

Wait and wait and wait, let the answer come to you. It may come in a dream, or on a page in a book (left open on the table). Trust the process.

And when the answer does emerge, seize onto it for fuck’s sake and make it happen in your life. Just start something, anything, take a step.

This is the lesson for us to learn.

The energy of fear always directs us to separate to take care of ourselves. It justifies screwing other people over. “As long as I have my needs met, as long as I am safe”, we say to ourselves.. But we are never safe and there is no end to the ego’s consumption of more and “I deserve more and more”.

At the bottom, in the darkness, in the descent, we find that there is a place within us that is still, timeless and good.

Bring this light with you back into to world, ascend and generate community and goodness.

Make your one precious life, a legacy of joy and brightness. Patterns of star-dust gave your life a spark, be a beacon in the dark.

This is not a grand gesture, this means anything, climb mountains, hunt mushrooms, care for cats, walk, make art; be these activities with your whole self, radiate joy and light, and send that into the world .

This is the reason we are experiencing a pandemic, a breakdown in the old patterns . If you survive, it is to learn this lesson and bust the cycle up; superficiality, power, violence and fear, have controlled us for a long time.

Peace and courage, my friend, this is not a path for the feint of heart.

Love is the strongest force in humanity, it will catalyze the most growth and change.

Tips:

Frankincense:  the essential oil for this process.

Place a quartz crystal on your alter and charge it with your intention for the coming water season. Do this on December 21st, for the greatest effect.

Drink plenty of clean water.

Create beauty and light.

Plow pose or child’s pose in yoga.

Day dream, night dream, dream…

Take a bath.

Pray, Meditate and Chant.

I lit my light, may it spread it’s wings and fly.
