Immersed in an amazing text about trauma recovery by Ross Rosen. He is calling trauma, heart shock ( a term he borrowed from Chinese Medicine). This is a text written for practitioners, not the lay-studier. But I feel compelled to speak out and inform all interested parties, heart-sickness is something that most of us are suffering from. It is the root of so much of our mental illness. The more I research this topic, the more that I come to see that acupuncture and Chinese medicine were fundamentally designed to treat such imbalances. This is a very well kept secret, that I just ratted out. And a warning, it is Not a magic treatment that takes away all of your discomfort and pain, it requires plenty of your participation and lots of support. But even if a little health and balance are restored in the process, well that is amazing.…
My friend and I collaborated on an article about emotional trauma and recovery. It was just published in an Australian magazine called Living Now. Please enjoy. https://livingnow.com.au/returning-to-wholeness/
I was thinking that I would like to represent the essence of this time of year with a symbol. The next thing I knew, was an open book on my lap and The Goddess Lilith looking at me. She made it pretty clear that she was up for the job. She is a Sumero-Babylonian Goddess. The divine lady, often represented with the lower half of her body encompassed in flames. She is a wild, winged seer, full of hutzpah. She governs the birth, death and re-birth cycles, the transformation of energy. An owl is her attendant, she brings us the message… cast off the parts of the self that suppress and stand up to reclaim your power. Men, Women and all who occupy the gender spectrum, can relate to her strength and forceful nature. Reference- Genia Pauli Haddon’s book, Uniting Sex Self and Spirit
I was interviewed on Kingston Radio by Yogi Shawn Harrison, it played on Sunday July 8. A fun talk about the five elements. The link is here: https://radiokingston.org/en/archive/mindful-shawn-harrison/episodes/episode-13-5-elements Happy Listening.
We are now in the full stride of Fire time, the heat is on, this is where the rubber meets the road. Everything is at the height of openness, the most Yang state. It is time to connect and engage. It is no mistake that these fiery inclinations are synchronized with the events that are currently transpiring around us on both micro and macro- levels. How are we going to let our hearts direct us in truth and action? How do we stay open and not shut down in the face of the unthinkable? In what way do we use our voices to be effective? How can we do this and maintain our own safety? These questions hail straight from the realm of Fire. And the response… Fire opens it’s big mouth and unfurls a long red tongue, the answer it joyfully laughs is love. Fire non-discriminantly pours it’s warmth…
Have you ever wondered why the main figure in most fairytales do exactly what they were told not to do? “Don’t stray from the path” Red riding hood’s mother cautions her, then she directly gets lured off the path by some delectable berries. I always thought that I would do as I was told if I were her, because it would cause a lot less trouble for everyone. But when I reflect on my life’s decisions, I did not do what I was told and I made a lot of trouble and a lot of mess for myself and plenty of others. It is not wise to do what we are told, it is wise to break out and make mistakes. That is where the growth and the transformation happens. That is how we get to know ourselves. We learn how to make repairs and know our own inner voices.…
“I have been working with Jipala since early Spring. She is a careful listener, and is able to draw upon a wealth of knowledge from her training, along with the gift of a healer’s intuition. Her assessments resonate with me, and that allows me to feel I am in good hands with her. I’m seeing changes slowly, and steadily. I highly recommend her work.” L.P
Caring and Effective Treatment “I have been seeing Jipala for 3+ years. She is a fantastic acupuncturist. We have worked on my joint pain, Bell’s Palsy, sleep, and on integrating my psychotherapy with my physical body. As a physician, I really appreciate her ability to root out the information she needs to design and implement a very effective treatment. I very highly recommend her!” K.K
Restorative and Powerful “I have been seeing Jipala for nine years. What started off as seeking help for a debilitating case of neurological Lyme disease evolved into treatments that have covered all aspects of my life. Jipala is a healer. Her intuition and expertise have guided me through episodes of physical pain to the process of recovery from complex trauma. The trust I have in her and her work has allowed for life changes I never imagined possible.” L.R
ALWAYS wonderful! “Jipala is truly intuitive and nurturing. I feel blessed to be in her care. I feel transformed with each visit – I feel fortunate to be moving towards my personal goals with her as an ally.” MB.M
