“If people bring so much courage to the world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks everyone and afterwards many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.” Ernest Hemingway A Farewell to Arms I quoted this in my high school yearbook, albeit erroneously. It is rather a dark quote but I do think the brave are taking a bigger risk than the cowards. The climate is such that the brave voices are needed more than ever before, so I encourage you to speak up. I can only make the assumption that Ernest Hemingway felt himself to…

“Menopause is an invitation to confront dis-integration and death while there is still time to live. It is true initiation, a doorway through death to a new phase of life. Fear of natural menopause, fear of the Crone, translates into dread of death. Through bodily experiences of Yang femininity, in both menopause and menstruation, women and men who relate sensitivity to them, have opportunities to encounter the dark death side of the Divine.” Genia Pauli Hadden

Absolute compassion is seeing the situation as it is, directly and thoroughly. If you have to be tough, you just do it. In other words, idiot compassion contains a sort of opium—constantly trying to be good and kind—and absolute compassion is more literal, more discriminating, and more definite. You are willing to hurt somebody, even though you do not want to hurt that person; but in order to wake that person up, you might have to hurt him or her, you might have to inflict pain. The need for reassurance has only one eye.  Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

“I can only walk as best I can falling down time and time again. But I must go on, even on my knees as far as I can. The world is an illusion of my imagination, there is only the here and now. God is all. All is God. This is quite easy for the intellect, but to be it, one must transcend. I am a simple man and I don’t know the answers. I don’t think of tomorrow, or yesterday what is there that is left. Out of nowhere the light will appear. All happening on Earth, follow the natural law where there is darkness only the sun to shine. What we go through is only for our own good. If admit it as easy to say with every battle fought and won the stronger and we fight anew. Dark then light then dark then light.” 5-31-1972 Brindaban India Bernie Kagan…

“Jung had a visionary experience just prior to his death, where he saw the following words engraved on a great round stone: “And this shall be a sign unto you of Wholeness and Oneness.”  He then saw “a quadrangle of trees whose roots reached around the earth and enveloped him and among the roots golden threads were glittering.” Spiritual realization involves the spiritual mutation of the roots of being, and a transformed relationship of the fully surrendered individual to the cosmic Self and the attainment of Wholeness and Oneness, a highly individuated reflection of the Transcendent One.” Ion Miller

“The microcosm of mankind was associated with the macrocosm of the universe, which were said to demonstrate the systematic correspondences between the visible and the invisible worlds. Human pain and pathology were attributed to disturbances in the flow of Qi..” – Terry Oleson My interpretation, the single human is a reflection of all the integrated energies that surround us within the environment. These forces can not be separated. All of “mankind” or should we say all of “people-kind” need to move with the flow of life to be healthy, not get stuck. Very basic way of looking at this, but I think some of the simplest ideas are the wisest. This will also support a healthy environment.
