“ If you are violent inside yourself then you will be violent outside. If you are critical to your self, then you will be critical to others.” R. Schwartz Using the same logic, love yourself and you will love others. It is always pleasing to me when I can overlap a Western psychotherapy model with a Chinese medical model. Richard Schwartz unpacks the concepts of multiple parts within each person, by inviting them to dialogue with the adult within, to restore health to the system of the Self (with a capital S). In Chinese medicine there are similar theories, one we call the Shen (with a capital S). Shen is the greater consciousness and each individual is a mirror of the holographic system. Little shen is a representation of the state of trauma within the heart space, in a human body. If the little shen is disrupted then there will…
“If you Love what is in your way, it will transform.” Richard Schwartz
Can Mother Earth sustain me? The art of giving and receiving nourishment. If I steward the Earth, will she in turn, take care of me. A relationship…. We are in an ongoing pandemic, the weather patterns of the planet are shifting drastically. There are less of the basic resources such as wood and clean water available. The balance of nature and human life is disrupted. Earth season is a good time to nurture and exchange healthy energies with the planet. There is an abundance of vegetables and fruits for our current consumption and to put in storage for the coming colder months. It is time of deep gratitude and appreciation for the planet and for the cycles of life. It is a time of stability, containment of boundaries- holding the energy as it transforms- there is always flux. We have an opportunity to collectively heal some of the traumas of…
We crash right into the zenith of the year. It is a hot and fiery season. The height of Yang, bees buzzing, multitudes of insects moving, birds singing, flowers expanding in bright blossoms of color and scent. Let’s romance the fuck out of ourselves, open up the throat chakra and let out a blood curdling howl. It is Fire time, Fire time, Fire time, a mantra of devotion. It is an orgy of experience, a fest of light, an expression of Love. The healing of hearts happens now. We can harness the fire energy and open ourselves up to new experiences, let our inner truths fly. Express our desires and practice communication. Sing, laugh, chant, yell, dance and cry, it is a time of union. Make love to yourself, by feeding yourself nourishing delectable foods, go skinny dipping under the full moon, build a fire, make ritual, have enriching conversation with your…
According to Ibram X. Kendi, you are not officially an activist unless you were responsible for changing or creating new policies. As far as I know, I have not been a catalyst for any policy shifts. But I would call myself a pedestrian activist, I have been instrumental in shifting many a mindset and overall acceptance of the rainbow of expressions of the human form, including the myriad of ways in which we love each other. The Wood months, a season of renewal and growth. Time to do that “Spring cleaning”, this is not limited to a physical act, it is more akin to a mental and/or emotional experience. The root of illness is found in an imbalance within, a resistance to transmute or to simply allow change. What are the blocks stopping us from morphing with the trend of our lives? This is the essence of Wood season. The…
“I have never had such an intense response to a treatment. Wow! Thank you for being so kind and patient.” J.L
This Tide Will Recede As the cold bright stillness of Winter settles upon us and the new year looms on the horizon. 2021, many people are hanging their hats on this coming year being better than the much despised current one. As we putter out of 2020 on the last dregs of fumes in our tank, I check inside and feel, I am confident that this coming year will be brighter than the last. It will not be business as usual, back to the grind of ignorance and consumption. No, we are in for twelve months plus of repair and resilience training, re-patterning the collective nervous system . The hard-work of making change stick and not just slipping back into the old patterns that have sustained disease for the last two centuries. I recognize the renewal of an energy, that has been absent. I have craved this energy my whole…
ONE OF THE HAPPIEST MOMENTS IN LIFE IS WHEN YOU FIND THE COURAGE TO LET GO OF WHAT YOU CAN’T CHANGE. anonymous Metal season is upon us. The focus in on the Lung and Large Intestine meridians. Everything is precious, each moment is unique- a snapshot in time. Letting go of what does not serve us, breathing in the impermanence of the life cycle. Metal has an edge, as well as a soft warmth. This is the time of year to breathe in as many creative ways as you can come up with.
Only the wounded heal, but wounds don’t heal the way you want them to, they heal the way they need to. What is being wounded? What is being healed? The Wounded healer is the person who has gone through suffering, sometimes great, and as a result of that process has become a source of great wisdom, healing power and inspiration for others. In fact, the archetypal wounded healer undergoes a transformation as a result of their wound, their suffering and pain. They can actually transcend it, and successfully lead themselves to a path of service. Ion Miller
“Jung had a visionary experience just prior to his death, where he saw the following words engraved on a great round stone: “And this shall be a sign unto you of Wholeness and Oneness.” He then saw “a quadrangle of trees whose roots reached around the earth and enveloped him and among the roots golden threads were glittering.” Spiritual realization involves the spiritual mutation of the roots of being, and a transformed relationship of the fully surrendered individual to the cosmic Self and the attainment of Wholeness and Oneness, a highly individuated reflection of the Transcendent One.” Ion Miller
