“Panpsychism is the idea that everything, every particle, the ink on the page, the atoms, all have some infinitesimal degree of psyche or consciousness, and somehow this consciousness is combined in some way from our cells and the rest of our bodies to create this kind of superconsciousness.”
Michael Pollan
I think about this kind of thing a lot, and if you feel this to be true, then you are just a sack of particles floating in a universe of similar particles. Quite a humbling thought, and it really takes our egos down a few notches.
Also, it stands to reason that everything you embody will be magnified tenfold into the world, so choose wisely. Use your energy thoughtfully, it could be said.
Acupuncture had this theory locked in about 5,000 years ago, also very humbling. The modality addresses one of the original structures of energetic medicine, along with many layers on top, including theory, evidence from clinical practice, human evolution, culture, and climate change.
We rebelled against this model with a zealous desire to control everything around us, the environment, people, resources, the principle of colonization, and capitalism. And though we threw ourselves into this wholeheartedly, it can not work long-term; it is not a sustainable practice for the future. WE need to move away from controlling everything at our whim, to working with the self inside to see where we can tend to growth and lots and lots of change in our culture and our environment. We are first-hand witnesses to the extinction burst of the industrial revolution, the far-reaching control of capitalism, and the power of “the white man”. Not only will we have to make reparations for the damage caused, but we will also have to reinvent ourselves in the new world and construct a revised culture. As always, we have a lot of choice, and my most important thought is that we make space for this to happen right now and we really allow ourselves to brainstorm and pivot.
I am not sure what will happen as people in power white-knuckle their role and double down so hard that they not only destroy themselves internally but also blow a crater around them. It is like watching a fish out of water, slowly dying as it gasps for breath.
We can not rail against the people who have chosen their course; nothing can be said to change them. We have to create the avenues for innovation in the meantime. Don’t let them distract you; that is the game. Keep you paralyzed with fear and bogged down in shame. F@#% that, there is nothing wrong with people who are different and operate outside of the construct of “American normalcy”, which is a false framework rooted in control and denial. The benchmark is that you aren’t causing any harm to yourself or others, I repeat, not harboring the intention to harm.
If we skew the narrative and do not even feed the people causing violence anymore, give them nothing, no attention, look at them with clear eyes, see their hate and their puny view of themselves, they would not function anymore. Money can’t buy everything; it doesn’t purchase respect or truth.
